There are many different types of Japanese obi, and countless ways to tie them.
The obi we are introducing here is a wide obi called "Fukuroobi" that is about 4 meters long. In Japan, most of them are worn on formal occasions. They are heavy and difficult to tie, so many tourists buy these beautiful obi made with high skill in the shops of Arashiyama as table centers and tapestries.
Fukuroobi is a luxury item that represents the pinnacle of Japanese weaving technology.
