Collection: yukata
Yukata was created about 1,000 years ago for nobles to dry off after taking a bath. At that time, it was called 'Yukatabira'.
It was around 300 years ago that kimonos first became popular. From around 1945 to 1965, they were worn after bathing or as pajamas, but nowadays they are commonly worn when going to summer festivals or by guests at Japanese-style inns.
When you wash your yukata, wash it by itself to prevent the color from transferring to other laundry. If you use a washing machine, fold it and put it in a laundry net before washing.
