We remade a black formal kimono, the first formal dress for women, into this dress. Made between 1970 and 1990. One of a kind.
This elegant, beautiful and excellent design is supported by the high technical skills of the craftsmen. Hand-painted Yuzen, partial Japanese embroidery, gold leaf processing. Although many colors are used, they are harmonious and have succeeded in creating a sense of elegant unity.
You can find a beautiful box inside this one-piece dress. This is a letter box, lacquered with gold and silver makie (lacquer work), in which upper-class women used to keep important letters. It was also popular as a kimono pattern with its beautiful silk cord.
In Japan, string patterns have been considered auspicious motifs since ancient times, with the meaning of "connecting people and things with good encounters."
This kimono represents the desire and hope that its owner, who is planning to wear it, will place a letter from a loved one in the writing box and find happiness in a relationship with that man.
The detailed depiction of chrysanthemum petals, delicate poppies, pine trees, and beautiful, long strings are all very graceful and elegant.
The condition is very good.
