This kimono is made of a bright vermilion fabric with a soft texture and a thin layer of gold paint applied by beating dyeing, and features a deformed rangiku (a chrysanthemum flower with long, irregular petals) drawn with very fine gold lines. It is a one-of-a-kind item. All hand-drawn. From the 1970s.
When collecting vintage kimonos, I occasionally come across kimonos with designs that seem avant-garde like this one. I was struck by this kimono at first glance. This kimono has a small number of colors and subjects, but it shows great skill and effort.
Above all, it is clear that the artisan painted the piece freely and with enjoyment, using his own unique sensibilities.
Condition is very good.
